Once certified, professionals will have three years validity of their certificates. To be recertified a professional must send a new application and petition to AIHQ asking for recertification no later than 90 days past the certificate expiration date (usually three year passed its issue date) and submit supporting documentation of at least 80 contact hours of related approved continuing education (documentation), an updated CV/Resume and a check of $150 fee for recertification. If professionals do not petition AIHQ for recertification within the eligibility period (see above), then they will have to retake the certification exam and potentially the related course and pass it before getting recertified.
